I have decided to post some of Peter Howard's book. This book was the inspiration for me to join Up with People. Soon after reading it my local Sing Out bought me a one-way ticket to New York to attend the Festival on David's Island in 1967.
From there it was Cast B heading to California. I got sick and was sent to Bear Creek Ranch to recuperate. My cast went to Norway, so I went to LA to join the staff of Tomorrow's American News. I worked on the giant typographic photo computer in the basement of PACE. Went for a short time with the Colwell Strike Force raising money in DC and Florida then on to work for PACEfilm which took me to Italy, Mexico and many places in the US.
After leaving for a while to go on a 2-year mission for my church and two years attending college, I returned to film the 9 casts of UWP during the Bicentennial. I later did some scheduling in Arizona, Texas and New Mexico then I enjoyed traveling with Cast C for a season.
It was an unforgettable time and I owe a debt of thanks to Peter Howard. I no longer have a website that would be easier to publish these pages, so this blog will have to do. Though this book is copyrighted, I do not intend to profit in any way by this, or any other post on the internet. Years ago I scanned the first two chapters so I will publish them until I find the book and scan the rest. I hope you enjoy re-reading this as much as I did!
